Oscar Night!

I managed to find live streaming of all the Oscar action last finally falling asleep on my laptop about 4am!

But what fun, so pleased I was able to watch live and didn't have to worry about getting up for work this morning

Hugh Jackman made me swoon and smile hosting the show and our very own English Rose Kate Winslett scooped the Oscar

Bloglands favourite colour pink was also a favourite for some of the ladies on the red carpet

Did anyone think there was no major show stopping dresses this year?

Then of course there was the couple everyone waited to see....

Here's to next year!

What I Am Watching

So what have I been watching lately?

First up has been a nostalgic trip to Beverly Hills 90210

I loved this programme when I was younger but only ever watched the first 2 series in the UK and have been buying the boxsets and catching up on all the episodes I missed

In between waiting for the next series fo 90210 to be released I've indulged in Charmed

Again another series that I have never watched completely only watching an episode here and there, I'm about to start watching Series 2 any minute now!

And something completely different is the West Wing

A friend loves the series and has all the boxsets so I've been able to steal these and watch them in between delivery of 90210 or Charmed!

But what will I be watching this evening???

The OSCARS of course

I even have tomorrow booked off a work so I can have a lazy day at home watching all the news coverage of the parties.... the dresses!!!

What have you been watching lately?

Happy Sunday everyone

What I Am Reading

I thought I’d share with you over the next couple of days what is keeping me occupied starting today with what I am reading

I have just finished reading Bringing Home the Birkin a fabulous true story of how a man stumbled across the secret to bypassing the infamous Hermes Birkin bag’s waiting list

As someone who has fantasies about owning this bag yet thwarted by the knowledge that even if the thousands were available to spend I’d have to sit on a waiting list without even a guarantee to obtaining one…. Now I know how!!!!

My train journeys are being spent reading An English Psychic in Hollywood

A true story about an actress went to Hollywood for fame & fortune but found her psychic abilities were more popular. This is not the best book in the world and did take a while or two to get into but being a true story I’m enjoying trying to work out who that famous actress who shall remain nameless could be!

In addition to a book I read on the train I often have a book at home that I read of an evening and currently that book is The Goddess Experience. This is the second Goddess Book from Gisele Scanlon following the popular Goddess Guide which I also own and love

These books feel like diaries to me, no soul searching or deep and meaningful feelings but tit bits of information and chatter. The Goddess Experience is about what makes us happy. This book is easy to read in chunks and offers up lot’s of places and “things” to look into (and don’t worry it’s not UK specific featuring London, Paris, Berlin, New York etc chapters/examples) and the pages are decorated with the drawings and notes Gisele has made in her notebook on her travels to compile the book.

Let me know if you’ve read any of these titles and feel free to share what you’re reading. Pop back tomorrow to see what I’ve been watching!

Hello Kitty!

Who saw Katy Perry in her Hello Kitty creation at the Brit Awards?

This corset is part of a whole Helly Kitty range that was auctioned on eBay with all proceeds benefiting The Museum at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York

LOVE it!

Something more in my price range is the Hello Kitty range from MAC to be launched next month

My friend and I have the launch date in our diaries to hit the stores

A Lovely Day

I have had a lovely day lunching and shopping in town with my friend today

Enjoying cake

As you can see we couldn't decide which to have so we ordered one of each and split them!

I got lucky in a charity shop and picked up these 4 bowls

(sorry the photo isn't very good!)

I've got hundreds of plates but always struggle to find bowls so these were a good find

The latest issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine - I just love this magazine

Can you see the cute mug.... £1 from Tesco - bargain!!!!

We visited the local library and I stocked up on MORE books for the train and even one on photoshop to see if I can teach myself a bit more about it

I hope you all had a lovely Saturday too

Not So Much Walked

But slipped, skidded and skated to the station this morning

I cannot tell you how icy the pavements were this morning but I made it into work and was oh so grateful for my snow day yesterday I shouldn't complain to much (esp when mum greeted me with bangers and mash this evening when I got home)

Do you want to see what I got up to on my Snow Day?

I needed to "pretty" these smaller sized recipes from magazine clippings and remembered some index cards hiding in the draw. Scissors, glue and some colourful papers and this is what I came up with

I'm quite pleased with them and speaking of recipes; I can't believe I have the cheek to still buy cookbooks after sorting through and filing this pile of recipe clippings from magazines yesterday

Hmmm so maybe I shouldn't mention the book I brought on Saturday?

What can I say?

It's an addiction and it had to be with it's pals Cakes and Cookies Galore that live with me!

I haven't shared with you that I went to see Sound of Music last Thursday

What a great show and should you have an opportunity do get tickets. My mum and I were singing to ourselves all the way home (accompanied by a singing goat we brought at the gift shop!)

I hope you're all keeping warm

Laying dormant

I'm sure I must be the last person to have got round to watching

but if I'm not and you haven't seen it I highly recommend you rent or buy a copy

It is a perfect Sunday afternoon film and was so gripped and confess it even made my put down my laptop and stop blogging!
