Not technically a bridesmaid...

....But a maid of honour

My best friend Kelly has just got engaged asking me to be her bridesmaid!!

Superstition states it's unlucky to be a bridesmaid 3 times so we are calling me a Maid of Honor instead!

***NB: Apparently the "curse" can be lifted if you are bridesmaid 7 times so I am currently making myself available for any future weddings!!!!***

I made a congratulations card for her last Friday

(I have now learnt that putting the heavy scrabble tiles on the bottom would've made more sense!)

and found this wonderful vintage wedding etiquette book for her as a present!

The theme for the wedding is Vintage English Garden (and i shall of course be wearing PINK!).

We're very excited and making plans already although the date isn't until 5th September 2009!

I'm throwing Kelly a bridal shower to compliment the wedding and the traditional hen night will have a Barbie theme as she is a Barbie collector!

I'm already planning a personal present from me for her shower along the lines of a vintage trousseau.

I'm thinking of a vintage suitcase filled with vintage gloves, hankies, flowers, candles anything pretty so ladies feel free to point me in the direction of any great Etsy shops!

Weekend so far...

I started my weekend on Thursday with a BBQ, expertly cooked by my brother

Friday I tidied my wardrobe...

...my books...

which are over spilling everywhere!

AND sorted out my paperwork

All whilst watching Casablanca & then Practical Magic

Later that evening mum & I joined my brother and his wife for dinner at Nandos (yum!) followed by the girls going to see Made of Honor at the cinema (great girlie film!!)

This morning I took mum along to a new boot sale I discovered last week.... check out our haul!

The bag was mum's and she insisted on carrying it round the remainder of the boot sale!!

Me I'm just happy with jars at the moment!

Mum said she had to buy me the To Do List notebook as I LOVE a list and I treated myself to this book on Elizabeth Taylor

YEAH!!! Cotton Candy the My Little Pony I had as a child! Jessi you have created a monster and I'm currently bidding like crazy and buying up toys I had as a child since the Childhood Toys Party!!

my first personalised stickers advertising my blog. I thought I should start getting some things like this done now I'm joining swaps! I got mine here.

Well ladies I'm off to bed with the latest copy of Martha Living to hit the UK (ok and some sweets I've treated myself to!)

The good news is today is Friday.... well for me anyway as I don't have any work tomorrow!!

I have Baby Shower invites to make... an Engagement card to prepare and of course I'm pretty sure some thrift stores will feature!

Donut Queen

I love finding out about Etsy shops and such through your blogs and always click on links to investigate for myself and see what is available.

I was ecstatic when I heard about Jenny at lollipopworkshop and her cute little dolls and the Donut Queen she'd made.

You see I’m a real life Donut Queen and when I saw a Donut Queen doll I had to contact Jenny and see if she could make me a brunette version like myself and here she is….

And she was so beautifully wrapped too!

Bonkers about Betsy!

I made my first Betsy purchase a few weeks ago for Easter (see her here) and loved her so much I just had to add another to my collection!

What could be a better birthday present to myself?

She was waiting for me when I returned home on Tuesday!

It took me till 11pm last night to go through all the posts on google reader but as always was a pleasure!

I'm off to Cath Kidston this evening for some birthday money spending!
